In this day and age of open-source software, there are now truly many amazing games that are not only free but also have stunning premium-looking graphics and exciting multi-faceted gameplay. These above-par free games have the feel and look of high-quality premium versions. However, there are games that have below average graphics and not so exciting gameplay. Pocket tanks is one of them.
Pocket Tanks is a turn-based artillery shooting tank game designed by the same developer who created Scorched Tanks. The objective of the game is to eliminate the enemy tank as quickly as possible. You’ll have a tank which you can arm with weapons and artillery. You can then specify your name and the difficulty level of the game. An array of weapons is then displayed as a two column list and you and your opponent will choose weapons alternately. After all these you’ll then be able to start playing.
Gameplay of Pocket Tanks is also done in a turn-based or in alternating sequence. You can specify the type of weapon, angle of trajectory and power level. Set in a flat 2D game environment, Pocket Tanks is somewhat reminiscent of turn-based games from the 80’s and 90’s. However, the single exciting thing that really got me into Pocket Tanks was the animation and effect of the different artillery and weapons that each tank displayed. I found many artillery effects very amusing and quite exciting to watch. Additionally, the other thing that really engaged me was the destructible environment. Destroying land masses was as fun as destroying the enemy tank.
Despite the lackluster graphics, Pocket Tanks is really an addictive and fun game that you should download.
